Inconel 600 (AMS 5540) is a nickel-chromium alloy designed for use at cryogenic temperatures and elevated temperatures up to 2000°F (1093°C). The high nickel content of 2.4816 plate provides good resistance to reducing environments, as well as exceptional resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, while the chromium content provides resistance to weaker oxidizing conditions. 2.4816 plate exhibits high strength and is oxidation resistant, and while Inconel 600 plate cannot be precipitation hardened, cold working of alloy 600 materials can considerably harden them. Alloy 600 Plate is often used in the chemical processing, heat treating industry, soap manufacturing, electrical, nuclear and aeronautical fields. Characteristics Of Inconel 600

Nickel alloy 600 (UNS N06600) is preferred over grades like alloy 200 when sulfur compounds or heavily oxidizing conditions are present. 2.4816 plate is nearly immune to chloride ions and subsequent stress corrosion cracking, except in caustic alkalis, where stress relieving at elevated temperatures (1650°F / 900°C for 1 hour) before use is recommended.
