Stainless steel 317l belongs to a low carbon austenitic grade. The ASTM A312 TP317L Steel Pipe is designed with a chemical composition consisting of iron, chromium, nickel, molybdenum, manganese, silicon, phosphorous, carbon, and sulfur. The content embedded in DIN 1.4438 Stainless Steel 317L Tubes allows these modules to possess enhanced corrosion and oxidation resistance properties across stress-induced environments.

ASTM A312 TP317L Steel Pipe works well in aqueous conditions due to the content of molybdenum within them. The lower carbon content also allows ASME SA213 TP317L Tubings to be resistant to sensitization and gives them higher creep-rupture properties. The ASTM A 213 317L Stainless Steel Polished Tube is non-magnetic in the annealed condition. ASME SA213 TP317L Tubes can be readily welded in place following standard procedure. The ASME SA213 TP317L Tube can be dual certified by the addition of a strengthening agent like nitrogen in its composition. The tubes cannot be heat treated but are usually cold worked to harden them in the system.
