Stainless Steel UNS S31635 Plate Sheet is made of a titanium stabilised version of 316 molybdenum-bearing austenitic stainless steel. The 316Ti Stainless Steel Plates are more resistant to general corrosion and pitting/crevice corrosion than the conventional chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steels such as 304.

Resistance to sensitisation is achieved in SS 316Ti Plate with titanium additions to stabilise the structure against chromium carbide precipitation, which is the source of sensitisation. This stabilisation is achieved by an intermediate temperature heat treatment, during which the titanium reacts with carbon to form titanium carbides.

The austenitic structure also gives these 316Ti Steel Plates excellent toughness, even down to cryogenic temperatures. Hot Rolled 316Ti Steel Plate is more resistant to atmospheric and other mild types of corrosion than the 18Cr-8Ni stainless steels. Stainless Steel UNS S31635 Plate Sheet is especially more resistant than any of the other chromium-nickel types to sulfuric acid solutions.
