316L Sheets are part of the austenitic family of stainless steel and is the most widely used varieties of stainless plate. A240 TP316L Stainless Steel Plate contains a higher level of Nickel than 304 giving it an improved corrosion resistance over 304 grades. A240 316L Stainless Steel Sheet is a good option for marine applications due to a good atmospheric corrosion resistance. 316L is a low carbon modification to 316 grade.

 

316L Sheet offer better corrosion and higher strength at elevated temperatures than 304 stainless steel. SS ASTM A240 316L Plate is used in marine applications, along with being used for pumps, valves, textile and chemical equipment, and general uses where 300 series stainless steel is used. The "L" means that the carbon content of the alloy is below 0.03% which makes the Hot Rolled ASTM A240 316L Steel Plate preferable for welding over standard 316 stainless steel.
