Nickel Alloy 825 plate is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy with the addition of molybdenum and copper. UNS N08825 plate has excellent resistance to reducing and oxidizing acids, stress corrosion cracking, and localized pitting and crevice corrosion. The nickel content of UNS N08825 Plate makes it resistant to chloride stress corrosion cracking compared to conventional austenitic stainless steels and combines with molybdenum and copper to provide significantly improved corrosion resistance in reducing environments.

 

The chromium and molybdenum content of UNS N08825 Plate provides resistance to chloride pitting, as well as resistance to various oxidizing atmospheres. The addition of titanium stabilizes the ASTM B424 Alloy 825 Plate against sensitization in the as-welded state. This stability makes Alloy 2.4858 resistant to intergranular attack after exposure to temperature ranges that would normally sensitize unstable stainless steels. While Alloy 825 UNS N08825 hot rolled sheet tends to be similar to grade 800 Inconel, SB424 Alloy 825 polished sheet offers better resistance to water corrosion. Alloy 825 Nickel Cold Rolled Sheet has excellent resistance to both reducing and oxidizing acids.

Also, Nickel Alloy 825 is resistant to stress corrosion cracking and localized corrosion attacks, such as intergranular corrosion, pitting corrosion and crevice corrosion. The mechanical properties of the alloy provide excellent performance under severe conditions. Both at extremely low cryogenic and moderately high temperatures up to 1000°F. When exposed to temperatures above 1000°F, the microstructure can change. This results in a significant reduction in ductility and impact strength.

 

Application

Nickel alloy 825 is used for upstream oil and gas fluids, chemical processing and nuclear applications. But also, in pollution control, acid production and components in pickling equipment such as heating coils, tanks, baskets and chains.
